Mission Statement
Dr. Michelle Juanatas Bowens is a Public Health dentist who saw the need for better access to oral health care at the heart of California in Kern County. Smile Makers is designed to provide quality oral health care for people of all ages and all walks of life. Preventive care is the core of Smile Makers, but restorative and other specialized care is also available for those in need. Smile Makers will provide a dental home to people who have access issues, since care can be given at a more convenient time and place to patients and their families.
Services Provided
Preventive care includes exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and most importantly patient education. Other services include fillings, crowns, bridges, root canals, deep cleanings, extractions, and dentures. Dr. Bowens is also a FASTBRACES® provider and can provide cosmetic dentistry to help people feel more confident about their smiles.
About Dr. Michelle Bowens
Dr. Bowens calls Bakersfield, CA home since she was 7 years old. After graduating from South High School, she received her Bachelor's Degree from University of California, Berkeley, and went on to get her Master's in Education from National University. She was a science teacher for 2 years at Casa Ramona Academy in San Bernardino, CA before she started dental school at the University of Southern California. Dr. Bowens served as an Army Dentist before moving back to Bakersfield, CA. In 2020, she finished her Master's in Public Health with a Dental Emphasis from A.T. Still University's College of Graduate Health Studies. Her hobbies include traveling, watching movies, and spending time with her husband Bryan and daughters Mikaella and Brianna.
